Ziggurat Chogha Zanbil, also known as Čoḡā Zanbīl, is an ancient religious complex built during the Elamite civilization. It dates back approximately 1250 years before Christ and is located near Shush in Khuzestan province, Iran. This ziggurat is the central structure within the ancient site of Dur Untash (also known as the city of Untash), which boasts unique architecture and dimensions of 105 meters by 105 meters. In 1979, Ziggurat Chogha Zanbil became the first Iranian historical site to be inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Archaeologists consider it the oldest known religious building in Iran.
